Kosher Cheese Platter Ideas for Your Next Party

Cheese Boards, like charcuterie boards, are trending now. And with Chanukah approaching, a Cheese Board can be just the thing to serve at your gathering, party or event. Cheese boards can be prepared ahead of time leaving one less thing to do during crunch time. Cheese platters also present beautifully with varying textures and styles. Having clusters of ingredients on a cheese board gives it a messy and crowded look, but in a sophisticated and appealing way.

There are many components to building a cheese board so let's begin with the cheese. Really, anything goes, but a good way to go is with something aged, soft, firm, or blue. Select three to five cheeses of contrasting taste and texture. Here are some cheeses available on Crafted Kosher:

Parmeasan Wedge             Aged Havarti            Monterey Jack             Double Ale Cheddar

Keep it simple, without any toppings on the crackers so as not to take away from the flavor of the cheese. There are flatbreads, breadsticks, bruschetta, pita chips, artisan crisps or crackers (gluten free option).

Artisan crisps                      Pita chips                         Flatbreads                Bruschetta

Tart & Savories

Simple additions to a cheese platter, but huge flavor! Think pickles, olives, sun dried tomatoes, semi dried cherry tomatoes, and grilled or marinated vegetables.

Kalamata Olives                  Flavored Oloves                Tipsy Olives           Cherry Tomatoes

Pickled Green Beans              Brooklyn Brine Pickles      Cornichons Gherkins

Chutneys & Spreads

Offer a variety of accompaniments like sweet preserves or honey, tart chutneys and spicy mustards. Honeycombs cut up add a unique look and definitely becomes a conversation piece!

Honey for Cheese                  Edible Honeycomb           Honey Fruit Spreads

         Chutney                                        Mustards                                Spicy Jams

Fruit & Nuts

Assorted seasonal fresh and dried fruits add lots of color and texture and can include grapes, apples, cherries, figs and pears. Candied nuts, pistachios, almonds and walnuts gives it good crunch.

Sriracha or Wasabi Spiced Peanuts           Pistachios                        Nut Sweeties

        Dried apples                                           Dried fruit platters

The fun part starts with pulling the whole board together. Choose a platter, wooden cutting board, or even a marble floor tile and start building your cheese board. Use an array of small serving pieces like a cheese slicer or knives to slice cheese. Scatter grapes or berries, nuts and all the varying accouterments for a finishing touch.  Serving wine always adds to the festivities! Enjoy!
