Sizzling Salad Toppers

How to Make Kosher Beef Bits
Sizzling Salad Toppers

Ever thought of making your own beef bits? These are so easy and add loads of crunch, texture and protein to your salads and vegetables.

½ lb. thinly sliced pastrami deli
Zeta olive oil, or Zeta oil with hot pepper (if you like things spicy)
2 tablespoons of Char crust seasoning

Preheat oven to 200 degrees.

Using chicken scissors, cut the deli into small pieces.  Add 1 tablespoon of the seasoning to the deli and mix it together.  Pour the oil into a frying pan and allow it to heat up on medium heat.  Add the deli pieces and the remaining seasoning.  Using a wooden spoon, spread the mixture evenly across the bottom of the pan to make a thin layer, shaking or stirring occasionally for 15 to 20 minutes.  The deli pieces will turn a dark golden crispy brown. Remove from heat once all of the pieces have shrunk in size and are mostly crispy.  Use as is, or complete the next step for total crunch.

For complete crunchiness, place the frying pan with the deli pieces in the oven for 15 minutes at 200 degrees.  Remove from oven and allow to cool.  Store in an airtight container and serve on top of salads or roasted vegetables.
